Brighton Inshore Fishing - Catch report 25th October 2018 - C.A.T. 50

Another single sailing day, due to social commitments in the afternoon (so rare I get to say that I feel like I am boasting...). On board, Steve, Ian and frequent fluff chucker John. I had a last minute drop out on this trip, but knowing I had a fly angler on board I didnt even attempt to replace the rod, happy for the extra room.

I had a hunch to head west, and it was a hunch well played. We found some quality fish, and some smaller fish. But importantly, we had some very big smiles. And after 2 hours of spikey fun, I had promised Steve and Ian an hour hunting a coddie. Stubbornly, John refused the offer of a lure rod, and continued to try for one with the fly. But with 50 feet of water, and strong current, it was not a successful attempt. But neither was it with lures. Ian did manage a squid however, which are suddenly around in big numbers, looking at the results from the night fishing on the marina walls.

When the final time was up, I offered to extend an hour, to go hunting bass east side. Everybody was game (paid extension - if I do not have a following trip this is always an option) so I headed to a consistent spot. And it gave us more fish, including quality fish. Big smiles. SO enjoyable, that, although I had to return Ian and Steve to port as they had stuff to do, John wanted another hour. Which I duly gave him. More fish, more fun, more smiles. A very enjoyable morning.

Wind now an issue. Looking possible no sailings for over a week, but keep an eye on our facebook page "Brighton Inshore Fishing" as sailings will be announced here first.
