Brighton Inshore Fishing - Catch report 21st October.

These sailings were in the balance, right up until the night before, when the forecast gave in and suggested light northerly winds all day, with rain finishing just as we set sail at 0700... Righto... In actual fact, we got the gusting to 30 mph winds originally forecast, and the rain finally finished around 1500... grrr...

To add to that, first sailing with regulars Armando and Mark on board, was a complete blank. Not a single tug. I really didn't want to go back out for second sailing, where Armando escaped and we welcomed Dean and Stuart on board. Very happy we did though, as was Mark. Far better fishing, with forty plus bass landed. A bonus squid. A big for the time of year Gurnard. Even a bloody flounder, our second ever only, again on an HTO mighty minnow. Happy with what was a cracking session, as I was beginning to wonder if the super trawler which has been working the 12 mile line off Brighton these past two weeks really had taken all the fish. Having said that, Mackerel are surprisingly less prevalent than I would expect at this time of year...

Just the two sailings, mainly due to me being a bit dumb and forgetting to cancel a regular Monday booking as my man Bruce is currently catching Salmon where salmon are not supposed to live, in the Shetland islands... Funny old world...
