Two sailings planned, but on heading out we smacked into a deep southwesterly swell, where the promised NW wind had arrived much later than predicted during the night and the swells were still big. Challenging standing up let alone fishing a shad properly. Back in we headed. Guys were keyed up so I sent them to the marina and said I would be along. But when it came to it, I only fancied the close bays
As I was fishing so one of them, Steve, came along reporting nothing happening. As we were chatting, a fish I am very familiar with, Bonito, twice smashed bait off the surface. Exciting times.

2nd sailing we had a long, rolling swell, far more the norm for a NW wind. four rods. we managed to get out to the area where I am finding quality fish. And even on the demo cast, a nice 4lb fish attached itself. wind dropped to zero, swung to the SW, and gently increased. 2 hours in , wind was now making an angry sea. fish count was 6, with 5 killed. Happy customers agreed to leave it at that and we headed back in. Now a couple of days of wind
Back on the water either Thursday or Friday.
