Brighton Inshore Fishing - Catch report `12th May 2025

First sailing, out with regular Bruno and new to BIF1 Sandy and Wez. Wez being the fisher, Sandy the observer, and media manager. Which set the morning up for being very enjoyable. Although more fish would not have hurt. Hunting rocks, pickings were lean, with just five bass landed, and just a single one for the table. Such a poor session that we jumped to plaice for the last 45 minutes, and even this was poor compares to recent efforts, with just four landed.

With such scant pickings I decided to check out the sand for the next sailing, and this went much better. Small sandeels abounding at the moment, with shoals of mackerel, bass and garfish chasing these down. With me Harry, Ramazan and Ahmet, and happily they wasted no time in getting on the fish. 21 landed, plus a couple of very plump mackerel. Mostly small, with four getting despatched for the table. But with calm seas, it was refreshing to be able to fish the rubber effectively, and get a result.
