Brighton Inshore Fishing - Catch report 16th August 2025

ree

With stiff NE winds forecast, swinging to ESE later in the day, I had a bit of a dilemma over wether to call this one on. Seas would be flat, but shad fishing would be difficult as the boat being pushed by the wind creates scenarios where it is very hard to keep tight and in the know as to what your shad is up to. However, with my start times being just before sunrise, I did feel there was hope with surface lures, and that is what made me decide to call just the first sailing on (At this time of year, surface lures once there is sunshine is far less productive).

With me regulars Mark and James, and new to BIF1 but bringing with them clear evidence of hundreds of hours lure fishing, Fred and Rob. And with this level of skills, and the choice of surface lures being spot on, we then settled in to challenging (wind and immature seagulls) surface fishing. Which actually was nicely productive. Mark and James both went home with fish. Fred and Rob could have, but chose not to. 19 fish landed, with lots of quality. Two new regulars for BIF1 I suspect. A very satisfying morning. Check out the numbers and how they are suddenly increasing. The better fishing I have been talking about all year seems to finally be arriving,
