Brighton Inshore Fishing - Catch report 17th June 2025

A pretty tough day in the edges. It goes like that sometimes. The bait, which has held plenty of bass in tight these last couple of weeks, simply wasnt around in any numbers. And wherever it was, the bass likely were. Normally, I dash around and find it. Today, I did not find it. Just did the dashing around.

First sailing and good anglers on board. Joe and his son Seb, David and Mitch. All very capable when I put them on the fish. On this occasion, just five smalls and a mackerel.

2nd sailing, new to BIF1 Paul and Andy, plus regulars Kevin and Duncan. 2 bass landed, plus gurnards. We even went over to plaice fishing, and although we found a few more gurnard and a few small plaice, it was nowhere near as good as the previous day with fish tapping but not committing. At least one of the two bass was a good fish, for Andy. A very strange day. Hopefully, if karma exists, tomorrow we will do well, as we rescued a drowning pigeon, embalmed in fishing line, as we came into the marina.
