Brighton Inshore Fishing - catch report 17thJuly 2026

Finally at sea after far too long shorebound due to very strong North easterly winds. I had a great feeling about where to fish for the table fish, although from my 3 guys aboard,.only John wanted to take for the table, and with a large family BBQ at the weekend, and the others not taking, I relaxed my 2 fish limit that he might take 3 if he were to be so lucky. Which he was actually...

John was always going to be top rod though, as regulars become excellent with the finger technique. Newcomer's, it takes sometimes 2 or 3 sessions before the penny drops, but Kasper grasped it quicker than most and I think we be seeing more of him. Another convert to super light fishing from small fast boats. The total catch for this 3 hour session was 8 bass, all keeper plus. Plus a garfish which have been strangely (consumed by tuna?) absent this year.

2nd sailing it was my pleasure to welcome aboard a lovely family on holiday from Shanghai. Arranged by a Chinese agent, it led to me being in a very new for me situation. An inability to communicate with the 12 year old twins, which is an essential component of a trip with me. The fishing is only good when a very specific approach is made. With the dad acting as a translator, we made some headway, and finally the guys caught. 4 bass landed, 2 killed

Sold out over the weekend, and having a couple of days as a UK tourist Monday lunchtime to Tuesday night, but I am running the 0530 Monday, with 3 spaces available.
