Brighton Inshore Fishing - Catch report 20th May 2025

Just the one sailing today, at the respectable and civilised hour of 1000. This gave me time to do a shore job, with two guys, first, and refuel the boat. And even get an early breakfast. So, the score sheet was already plus thirteen bass before we slipped the dock. This was not as good as the previous day, where with two clients we managed to beach no less than forty five bass, all in a two hour period. If shore fishing for bass , on lures and baits, is your thing, to be a part of the fishyrob shore guiding service, simply text YOUR NAME and SHORE to 07970 112774

Indeed there is quite a paradox, as for action, just in that 2 hour window, the shore is a better bet. On this sailing I had Kevin (returning after quite a while missing) Kas (returning all the time coz he is a BIF1 addict) and new to BIF1, thanks to a birthday gift from his girlfriend, Mathew. I do rather feel the stress of birthday trips. They need to be memorable somehow, and this wasnt going too well. Just four fish landed, a brace apiece to kas and myself, all quality fish and then, in the last 20 minutes, Neptune gave in and Mathew found himself attached to a cracker. Best fish of the week at 63 cm and well earned. I think he really enjoyed his birthday gift.

A single space remains for tomorrows 0530 sailing, and 2 spaces on the 1000 sailing. I think I will spend more time hunting these better sized fish, and leave the sandeel chasers alone. Or perhaps split the session. If you fancy a crack as we race towards the stiff SW winds that are about to ruin this run of sailings, just drop a text to 07970 112774
