First sailing and out with Richard, Paul, David and Andre. I had forewarned my crew that there would only be fishing close in available, with the screaming N wind, but that there would be squid (they are literally everywhere at the moment) and some bass but likely no beasts. And so it turned out. 8 bass landed, 3 killed. We forgot about squid until the last fifteen minutes, but even so a tidy feast went up the road. A good trip considering the brutally cold conditions.
2nd sailing was like a different day. The strong wind had died to a gentle Northerly breeze and the sun felt warm. I predicted 20 fish with a max kill. We ended on 15 bass, with 6 killed, plus a mackerel. Still not too bad. And this time the guys went over to squid with a full 30 minutes still to run, and as such went back with oodles. A great day for my foody crews. Incidentally, I didnt have a bite all day. Sometimes fishing goes like that.
