Brighton Inshore Fishing - catch report 22nd July 2026

Happy days may be here again...

For some time I have been very aware of big bronzes bass being in tight, with both sonar and visual observations by myself and others. But all the while the spiders were changing their clothes by the many tens of thousands, that's all they were interested in. But now, spiders have thinned considerably. Yet there are still big bronzed bass hunting around. And with less crabs, the mesmeric spell appears to have broken.

Not lots of action but, today when the li s tightened, it was more likely to be a quality fish, as reflected in today's statistics.

1st sailing - 4 rods - 13 fish landed, 6 killed

2nd sailing - 1 rod (plus me). 6 landed, 4 killed

3rd sailing - 2 rods - 5 landed, 3 killed

Byecatch today was mostly mackerel, plus a gurnard.

3rd sailing was proper bouncy as well

As you can see, the deep bronzed colouration quite confirms they have been residing in the currently brown weed strewn rocks down there for a good amount of time. But only now, are they prepared to hit rubber once more

Interesting times.
