Brighton Inshore Fishing - Catch report 23rd September 2026

First sailing, four guys in board, and it very nearly finished as soon as we exited the marina. A big swell was there to greet us, as a South easterly wind that had popped up in the early hours was beginning to die

A long swell, and deep troughs, but more akin to an Atlantic sea, with no breaking waves. I decided to give it an hour in tight and see how it went. Fish from the off, on the surface lures

And steadily, the swells flattened out a bit. we headed to some squid grounds. Here, bass were also to be found, with 18 the final tally, plus squid and cuttle

2nd sailing was a business disaster. 3 clients messaged to say they were 30 minutes late, but that doesn't work as I didn't want to keep my 4th client waiting. And so, they literally missed the boat. so please dear all, don't be late as it isn't an option. it's why I ask to meet 15 minutes before sailing time to allow for such things. And so, just Kas the fish slayer was my passenger for the next 3 hours

And the good fishing continued. A max kill and five more released. plus squid and cuttle. And a very happy Kas.

3rd sailing was actually cancelled due to forecast stiff SW breeze, which did arrive.
