Brighton Inshore Fishing - Catch report 24th September 2026

Everything for the reason. I arrived at BIF1, with my crew already prepared that should it be bouncy on the easterly wind, we would transfer it to the shore. But we didn't get that far. On warming up the engine, a "water in the fuel" alarm sounded. It had no logic, as the water separator showed pure fuel and any water immediately makes it look more like a pint of John Smith's. So I suspected a faulty sensor. But no way will I run an engine with an alarm unless my mechanic tells me ok. (Which he later did).

And so we headed for the shore. Conditions were perfect. And fish galore,.although it took a few changes of tactics to find some better fish. Over 30 landed, plus a couple of shad. A great session.

So much so, that with 2nd sailing cancelled due to the engine error code, I put on another session for the ebb. Within 30 minutes I realised I had it wrong, and after an hour and a half I canned it with just one small landed.

But with the go ahead from the engineer, 3rd sailing happened. 3 squidding, one bassing. squid and cuttle a plenty. 4 bass landed, just one for the table. A nice end to the day.
