First sailing, and my regular crew, plus a more and more regular. Sam being that guy, joining Max, Natalie and Dave. And out to some very good fishing indeed. With the new ebb just getting away, and still no sunrise we started on the crab rock, where the biggest fish of the session fell. And then we went on a tour. Fish on all marks but we did find two marks with more fish on, so alternated between the two.

This worked really well, and we amassed a total of 38 bass landed. Only six required for BBQ duties, but plenty more table fish returned. Contented people, two of which had to then go onto work. In the days when I was a commuter to London town, a charter starting at first light would have been my special treat also. At least twice a week...

Next up, returnees Duncan and his son Cass, and joining for the first time on BIF1 their friends, Jeff and his son Jefferson. I did of course go straight back to the scene of the first sailings success, and the first drift did yield a couple of schoolies. Then, as a stiff and unpredicted Easterly sea breeze sprung up, everything became a struggle. Very unfortunate, but with the new flood tide, so the easterly meant casting up the tide. Never very productive afloat, and a good way to lose lures. Both of which played out. A real shame but the guys stayed focused and did catch. Seven small bass, and some chunky mackerel.

Third sailing, and I was able to delay it for a couple of hours to let the breeze die, which it did. This gave us a sailing with all ebb again after thirty minutes of drifting on the wind, and much more likely conditions. Reflected in the results as Swapnil, Slav, Misa and Dimitri managed to amass sixteen bass landed, with the biggest at 59cm, and again six fish killed to return to London town. I am really pleased the guys agreed to the delayed start, as without it, I dont think any fish would have been going back up to London.
