Brighton Inshore Fishing - catch report 3rd June 2024

No takers for first sailing this morning. Second sailing, I was delighted to receive the presence of Dimitri and Peter, very early supporters of the BIF1 project. And now, old enough to cast a rod, joined by Dimi's son Theodor.

Once again, may rot was the theme. This time, even the plaice rigs didnt work, as they were working in a creeping carpet of sludge down there. The only creatures that would play, to the sections of isome approach, were bream. Thank neptune for bream. Theo was a delight. The first bream put a smile on his face that did not leave for the duration of the session. As with Elvis the previous day, I hope to see him when seas improve. He picked up casting well, and held his focus despite very slow fishing.

Final sailing was actually at 1600, tailored to get the strongest push of the flood tide. Joining me for this one, was Dicky, Curtis and Mackie. We went places we have been unable to go, because this afternoons flood tide was a lot less rotten!! We found a shedload of fish, most of which refused to hit. Happily, eighteen of them did, including plenty of table fish although we only killed one. Quite a reversal of fortunes, and a sign of the happy times to come. Two reef pollack also featured. Always a nice thing to see. Once abundant along the inshore rocks, now more of a rarity.
