Brighton Inshore Fishing - Catch report 5th May 2025

North / North easterly winds are, when bass are back in tight, not a problem for BIF1. At least, sub 20 mph they are not too much of a problem. But todays fishing I cancelled, as the bass, and the best of the plaice fishing, has not been happening in tight. Previous years, a crab peel would be happening but this year, the cold sea temperatures have delayed many things. However, at some point the fish do come into the edges, so I managed to persuade Greg Bishop, skipper of "The Kraken" to join me to see if it was happening yet.

A couple of moves. Greg dropped a fish. Another move, and lots happening on the sounder. Wind increased until it was becoming a problem, travelling 1.2 knots across the tide. Very tough to keep in touch with the lure. I was just about to call it, when I got slammed. A very good fish, in the 7 to 8lb range. And enough, with Gregs fish and sounder activity, to call future trips on when winds blowing stiff N / NE. Happy days. Now it feels as if the season is underway. Next sailing with availability is Wednesday 0530, and if you wish to join in the big bass fun, simply send a message to 07970 112774
