J
ust the one sailing today, slightly delayed by a no show from two rods (who of course paid) meaning Richard and Matt had plenty of room to fish from. And straight back onto the bass. Not quite as frantic as yesterday, but we managed eleven before the strengthening tide took them away to somewhere I have not yet found. Only a matter of time though I suspect. Plus a dogfish, which is becoming a more and more frequent visitor on the shads.

Then on a plaice hunt. Although the plaice are really playing hardball this year, a point reflected upon by all the charter skippers. Usually the plaice fishing is in full swing by now, but no, they are not being found so readily. Perhaps they got hit hard on their spawning grounds, and have gone the way of pollack and cod, in being a rarity rather than something to rely upon. A few pouting and a small gurnard the best we could manage before time, and an increasingly lumpy sea, suggested we give it up and head back in.
Light winds forecast for Monday, with 2 spaces available on the 1100 sailing.
