Brighton Inshore Fishing Catch report 8th July 2026

An interesting day

It started with a very strong Northerly wind that was not forecast, that kept us pinned in tight. Fishes were amassing, according to the sounder and according to the numerous follows from whole school's of. very small bass. But actual takes? Just 2 bass landed, just one for the table. Cuttlefish however, abounded.

Next sailing I was out with Mathieu, who had hired the whole boat. I needed to do something different. Something I hadn't done before. Those cuttles came into my mind. Some grounds hold more than others. What if...the cuttles are clearly in plague numbers. Enough to distract the bass from the spiders and the Britt?

11 bass landed between Mathieu and myself. Quality fish. Happy Frenchman with seafood intentions

Happy skipper as he has maybe sold the puzzle. Or maybe tomorrow will be completely different

Because these are bass

And that's what makes them fascinating
