Brighton Inshore Fishing - Catch report 9th April 2026

With the last half of the tide to contend with, I did fairly expect to pick up where I left off yesterday. Especially as the only sailing of the day (winds were forecast to arrive mid morning ) coincided with similar state of tide as yesterday afternoons session, where rockworm abounded as the tide eased back. And this is exactly how it happened. Although the breaming deteriorated as the tide slackened off, the bassing perhaps got better, with rockworm zooming around the mirror calm surface, and bass sipping them off the top as a trout takes Sedges in May. Fly anglers take note... A rockworm shouldnt be too hard a pattern to mimic. Anwar, Brian and Dave, returning, and Jamie, new to BIF1 took full advantage. 27 bass landed. Maximum kill. Anwar also caught the first mackerel aboard BIF1 in 2026. Fantastic fishing, and happy anglers.
