Brighton Inshore Fishing - Catch report 7th October 2018 - C.A.T. 36

Just the one sailing again today, as although the seas were perfectly safe to sail upon earlier in the day, the strong Northerly wind would have made the drifts very difficult, and results poor. So, instead a 1500 to dark affair. On board, Al, Al, Charlie and Mark.

We spent the first half of the session hunting a coddie. Sadly we did not find any. Well, we did not land any. Pretty confident we touched a couple. We also touched something extremely toothy, the 2nd time I have witnessed a HTO Arctic Eel savagely bitten in two recently. I would love to know what is doing it. Either a good coddie, or perhaps a conger eel?

The rest of the session we focused on bass, which were moderately obliging. Mackerel were a big problem today though, literally forcing us off two marks by their sheer numbers and determination. A pollack showed, classic reef pollack, and I expect to see many more of these in the next three or four weeks. And some huge pouting, in places I have not encountered them before. Does feel all a bit fishy out there.

Tomorrow morning I am taking my lovely friends Erin and Johhny out to see if we cant find Erin her first ever cod. 2 spaces available on that trip, sailing at 0700. 3 spaces available on the afternoon trip, sailing at 12:30. 07970 112774 to get on board...
