Once again, just two sailings, with a double figure breeze from the South forecast to arrive at 1400 hours. First up, returning bi-annually, Robin!! Imagine that... With him, his brother in law Alf, in the uk from South African roots to celebrate his 60th birthday. And Alfs grown up son Travis. Also along, regular Mark. What would today bring? Again on the demo, we hooked a fish...

What transpired was neither great, nor terrible. The fish I had been enjoying yesterday, were no longer there. Thats the problem with fish. Those attachments called fins. They keep using them. So, back on the hunt, and to the final hour before a regular shoal was found This led to a tally of 12 landed, with just 3 killed.

2nd sailing, and Peter, returned, as did Tom, who bought with him Gary and Jack. Mission here for all four was made very clear. BBQ's were happening. And they needed fish to put on them. Hmm... We began on the bass, but it was clearly hard. Some plump mackerel were hitting the shads, so I allowed 3 drops on the feathers for the least experienced of the group, and that led to a dozen mackerel. BBQ's sorted, pressure off.

We then went bassing again, and nailed one. I then suggested squid, and al were keen. But the tide was still moving a bit fast, so we switched to shads on the same ground, and upped the bass count, adding another one to the food collection. Final tally, seven bass landed, two killed, plus the mackerel. Mission accomplished.

That wind however, did not happen. Indeed, it swung to the East, and was not strong. I thought I would see if I could smash some squid out for bait, while the smaller younger ones are still, well, smaller as they grow so fast. I landed two and deffo missed another two to unattended rods, while I fished a shad for bass. Another 4 bass fell to this. I think had I stayed out a little longer over low I would have had a lot more squid, but then I would have had to stay out till pretty late to have enough water to get back to my dock.

And now bad news. Winds just too much for my boat, and later in the week, too much for any boat. Likely there will be some shore fishing happening. If you are interested in guided shore fishing in the Sussex area, text YOUR FULL NAME and SHORE to 07970 112774
