A little weather enforced break, and only able to slip two sailings in today before once more the winds come to spoil the game. With me, all regulars. Mark, Max, Kevin and Nick. And all experienced in the art of touch ledgering. Which was much needed, as there has been further changes.
The non stop shoals of sandeel have either been replaced with, or joined by, mega shoals of very small sprat. This leads to obsession with tiny things, half hearted takes, fish dropping off etc etc. Long time readers of my rants will have seen me mention this often at this time of year. But it does make for lots and lots of bass. We were surrounded by bass driving britt to the surface several times, assisted by the fog that simply refused to go away meaning the sun never climbed to put the fish down.

Twenty six was the final tally. Not bad for three hours. Maximum kill as well, although no monsters. But it all made for a very enjoyable session. As was the next one, when my favourite fireman (retired) bought along his son and two of his grandkids. I do like it when Fred comes to visit. A true hero, he has a MBE (or an OBE... the one for doing...) for genuine heroism whilst he was an acting officer. And a very good angler also.
Which again was much needed. We found far less fish, and as a result, struggled along to nine bass landed in the session, one for the table. A few mackerel as well. And yet, the trip was a huge success, as the main aim, was to get three generations of Bishop's out fishing together. Job done.
