Brighton Inshore Fishing - Catch report

I quite enjoy putting myself under pressure by making statements about fishes , and then having to live up to those statements. But I only make those statements when my confidence is high. And it was still high this morning as I took Peter, Aaron, Dean and new to BIF1, Chris out to places where cuttlefishes swarm to test my theory that this is where table fishes will also be
15 bass landed. A BIF1 max kill (8 fish) plus 6 cuttlefish for top ups. Finally, a great session.

2nd sailing was always going to be challenging
Sun now climbed high, small tide, clear water, tail end of the ebb. With me, a family unit, Tansy (observing and media operative) David and Lysander, who it would be fair to say are absolute beginners. And Ian, an experienced rod on a Brighton city break.

Sometimes, and not many times in my 9 years of running the boat, or in my 21 years as a full time fishing guide, I bump into a youngster who's hunger to attach a fish to a hook really stands out. It's an enthusiasm I once owned, although sadly the routines of making angling my career has rather deadened that fire. But Lysander has it. In bucketloads. It was great to see

Despite the desperate conditions, he was determined to catch. Ian was first away, 2nd cast, with a schoolie. Then a long wait before I hooked a nice fish and handed the rod to Lysander. But the icing on the cake, was when towards the end of the session. by doing everything he was told, Lysander connected to the 3rd and final bass of the session. A nice fish, and all fish had to be quickly returned by Lysander's insistence, so a snap and a splash. Despite small numbers, actually, a very inspiring session.

Final sailing was late afternoon due to heat and travel arrangements of my clients. Martin, and brothers Al and Dave. Heading out at 1730 we had the last hour of.flood,.and 2 hours of ebb. Other than one quality fish early on,.we had to wait for the ebbing tide to pick up pace before the fish would feed

But once they did, they fed quite well
9 fish landed, maximum BIF1 kill for 3 anglers of 6 fish, plus 6 cuttles as my guys are foodies. And these guys are back out with me tomorrow, for 2 back to back sailings early a.m. Likely the last sailings until Tuesday as a stiff Easterly wind is forecast to steal the sailings at the weekend. some potential shore action though...
