Brighton Inshore Fishing - Catch report 11th July 2025

ree

First sailing, and it was my pleasure to welcome Loz and John, returning, and new to BIF1 Thorsten, visiting from Germany, and Peter, visiting from Surrey. And off we headed. To a bit of a struggle. I have a theory to what is happening, as I suspect we have seen it before. When we get day after day of super hot weather, and unbroken sunshine, there is a bit of a heat shock reaction in the sea. Right now, seems to be there is an algal bloom happening. Like a weak dose of May rot. And the fish are getting very hard to play with suddenly, in the edges.

My guys fished hard though. And it did come together. A total of 13 landed, but most importantly, a fish apiece to take home. Two for Loz as he managed a brace from the five bass killed. And with Thorsten's normal fishing being freshwater, I think he really enjoyed his introduction to the bass. As for Peter, we will be seeing him again for sure. The bass smack hit deep. Well hooked.

Next up, Mick, Mike, Allan and David. Three of which are brothers. All experienced anglers. And a really hard session. Often the way for people learning the art of touch luring. But deffo not a complete loss, as we managed to put four bass into the cool box from 6 landed. And I feel, a direct result of the heat and the brightness. And the weird sea viz.

Last sailing, Eric and friends. For 2 hours I roamed, and other than a mass that simply wasnt feeding, I just couldnt find any fish. A few pluck, but nothing landed. In the end, a lagoon watersports Jetski pushed me over the edge. I declared the trip abandoned, at no charge, spat my dummy at the kids in the watersports rib, and came back in, begging them to come back when it was cooler. And... they will... Amazing...
