First sailing, delayed as lots of big Northerly winds had been forecast around the usual 0700. This was delayed until 1100, for the start of the ebb tide. With me this morning, Max, Garry, Tim and his lad Jake. All regulars. I was quite happy that, although it was the run down to low, we should be able to find those whiting feeding fish again. And we did, pretty much straight away.

Snag was, we also lost them a lot easier. I think generally less fish roaming around the area. We did intermittently connect with them, and then lose them, and as the tide eased back, we found them less and less often, with the last hour being a bit of a scratch. However, final tally was 23, with max kill, and biggest at 62cm to Tim. A good session.

This made second session a 1500 sailing. Winds had pretty much died. Regulars Mark and Lee were joined by new to BIF1 Matt and his son Arthur. Arthur is one of those youngsters that simply couldnt keep his enthusiasm hidden. Very keen for the fishing that one. I'm glad they end up on BIF1 because it is a great place to rev up their enthusiasm.

Not so much with bass on this trip though. For some strange reason, the new tide simply had no oomph. At all. A fairly light easterly was enough to blow us back up the tide. Very strange. The bass were a bit thrown by it also. The squid though, they loved it and went crazy hitting the shads. I put the guys onto jigs and straight away the squid came. Great fun. Six bass were landed, with two killed for father and son to enjoy later. A quite tough session.

Tomorrows sailings also being messed around by a late changing forecast. What was a 0900 is now again a 1500, and hopefully it will have the push it should have, as it is a significantly bigger tide. If it moves, I expect to do well on the bass. Time will tell. Watch this space.
