Just the one sailing, nipped in before a day of SW breeze. Even with winds at zero, the overnight NW wind left a big rolling swell. With all regulars on board though, it was worth a look. Mark, Dave, Max and Lee all looking forward to a wake up. Which they got as soon as we left the marina entrance as we bounced to where I hoped the fish would be.
Hope was fully rewarded. Immediately into fish despite the roll. Indeed the first hour and a half was quite good. Then, as the tide eased back a little and the light increased, the fish wandered and were hard to find. A few moves saw the final total hit 26 bass landed, although only 3 were required for dinners so only 3 were killed. Sea state ever deteriorating, we actually headed back in with 15 minutes to run, as the wind distinctly increased. But not with enough noise to hide the sounds of our bellies, expectant of a feed in Cafe Zios on return.
One more early morning sailing tomorrow, and then a week of wind. My shore guys can get a little excited though, as Tuesday onwards PUMP AND SURF will be available for perhaps five days on the trot.
