Two sailings today, before a stiff SW breeze stole the weekend away. First up, Nick, his lad Gabriel, and Gabriels friend Hiro were joined by Will. All returnees bar Hiro, who is a trainee sushi chef so was particularly keen to get some super fresh bass and mackerel. No pressure then, especially with recent results. But a big difference was finally the wind was light enough that we could get a little further off. Checked a few spots along the way. Baitfish everywhere which is a very common theme this year. But little in the way of predators showing on the sonar, until we reached an old favourite reef. Here, Neptune was kind, and we landed no less than 14 bass, with 4 killed for the table, plus 2 big mackerel. Mission accomplished, including for Will who has endured one of the tougher trips recently and was due rewards.

Second sailing and Pat and Andre, returnee's, were joined by David and Daniel, new to BIF1. Although confident I could return to those same fish, I performed the instructional for technique under the cliffs in tight, and on the very first cast, hit a fish. This is usually the kiss of death, and it took a good while to find some fish after that. But once we did find some, we mostly glued to them. A foray in tight bought the biggest fish of the day to my rod, but little action and little marking on the sonar. So back to where we had been catching, to finish up with 20 bass landed, 7 killed. Considering recent results, a jump up for sure. Looks like 2 sailings tomorrow, and then 7 days without based on the current forecast. Just as things are getting good.
