Brighton Inshore Fishing - Catch report 22nd March 2026

First sailing, and it was my pleasure to invite some of my longest standing regulars aboard. Max, Mark, David and James. All very well finger trained. But with the tide dying away, it was actually a bit of a struggle from the off. Not a complete failure, with 8 bass landed. But not the fish fest I had hoped for. And it left me wondering about what the rest of the day may bring, with all trips sold out.

What did happen for the rest of the day was quite fascinating. I do feel that todays tide has bought significant numbers of bass very inshore, to the point that the beaches may be worth a look if your shorebound. Lots of bait fish, and rockworm, activity. And plenty of bass accompanying them. Andre, Matt, Mikhail and Ted managed to land no less than twenty seven once we found out what was happening, after a couple of less successful pokes en route.

And with still some ebb tide pulling by the time of 3rd sailing, It made it much easier to drop regular Mark, plus new to BIF1 Julie, and her two nephews Alek and Niko visiting all the way from Alaska. Which was a bit of a stress. These two lads favourite fishing in Alaska is halibut... However, with all rods bending straight away, I could see happiness in all faces. As the tide died, we lost them, but on a hunch I motored to a nearby spot and bingo, we were back in business. 24 bass landed. All bass were returned in accordance with UK bass regulations.
