There really shouldnt be a catch report today, as I cancelled all sailings based on a strong Northerly wind. But by midday, it was clear that this wind was not happening. Keen to not waste any precious squid research opportunities, I set out to see if the squid had also dropped in numbers on the deeper, daylight marks.

I dragged my housemate Marika along for the ride. And I am pleased to say, the reduction in numbers on the beaches last night, was not them leaving us. Indeed, more and more of the larger forbessi are gathering. In 90 minutes of fishing, we landed 12 squid. And when we next sail, with the bass very conspicuous by their absence in the edges, squid fishing is likely to be the main event for foodies.
