Three full sailings today. Didnt have that for quite a while due to the abysmal winds last year. A bit of a test of stamina, and as I write, I realise I am less young these days. I do ache a little. Lets see what happens when daylight extends and I go back to 4 sailings a day. First sailing, Mark, Sam, Ian and Bruno, all regulars itching for their first silver of the year And all managed their goals. Not nearly as hectic as last Friday morning, but sport was steady, and we picked away, bringing 9 bass to the boat. Plus another dogfish. These are becoming a regular thing with the shads, and a reflection as to the sheer numbers that must be down there. I am very happy I do not use bait out there.

Next sailing, Augusto, Pedro and Mathieu. With two Portuguese, and one Frenchman on board, the first two hours were spent hoping for food fishes. Just a single plaice, and two fat pouting the result. The final hour was spent on the bass, with just three landed. But three is better than none. It did leave me a little concerned about the final sailing though.

Aboard with me for the 3rd and final sailing, Aaron and Giles (who took a week with me in Portugal) and their friend Vito, new to BIF1, plus regular Jason. Again, all wanted their first UK silver of the year. It was a bit of a slow start, but as the tide eased back, suddenly the air was filled with birds, and baitfish was being chased by bass all over the place. We ended up with 20 bass boated, and big smiles all around. A very satisfying day. Still two spaces available on tomorrows 1100 sailing if anyone wants to play. Last day of light winds before four or five days of nastiness heading our way. Message to 07970 112774 if you fancy breathing some sea air, with a high chance of spikey action. All bass are to be returned though, as the closed season is in force. Killing time begins 1st April.
