Just the one sailing today, based on a window in the current strong ENE winds, promised by all forecasts. At 1000, the wind was due to ease back, even to single figures by early afternoon. Well, that didnt happen but with my guests having battled many traffic works and jams to join me from South and West London, and North Kent, it was preferable to go battle the elements than send them straight back. Seas were fairly flat, but contact with the lure was the major issue in the strong breeze.

Not that it phased my guys. With me, Kas, Paul and Jamie, regulars, and new to BIF1 Simon. We managed six bass landed, with two for the table. One of the bass came aboard with a lamprey still attached. The lamprey went absolutely crazy in the net, dropped its grip on the bass, and dropped back in without getting the photoshoot I had planned for it, as that was a first for BIF1. As well as the bass, a 40cm pollack, showing that potential for recovery of this once abundant species (inshore as well as on the rocks) is there if we leave them alone for a few years. As much as I would not normally call a session on in such a wind, I think everyone enjoyed it. Now it looks as if it may be as much as seven days before this wind eases back. Time will tell.
