Brighton Inshore Fishing - Catch report 9th July 2025

ree

First sailing, and all regulars. Richard, Max, Ray and Tom. With all being very finger trained, I went for the brown fish hunt. And the approach did work to the point. This approach is basically avoiding all the birds and britt shoals to fish for the fish that enjoy life at a slower pace. Browsing the rocks for crabs and prawns. Often bigger, and defined by their brassy jackets that is their chameleon skills adapting to the brown weeds where these creatures are living.

6 fish landed. All bar one over the 42cm. Here is the success of the approach. Although the fishing is much slower, there is a more likely chance of taking food home. No monsters today, but this is the approach to find monsters. And as we headed back in, a breeze, 2 hours ahead of schedule. Got me nervous for the following sailing.

Fred and Mark onboard, with new to BIF1, Elliot and Dean, on a trip down from London town, and out into a sea with distinct ripples from an ever stiffening SW wind. But we were out now. We actually managed to hang in for 2 hours, before an abundance of white caps suggested it would be better to return to the marina. And breeze means struggle with the technique as reflected in the results. 4 bass landed, just one for the table. Both sailings had mackerel backups, so all that wanted fishy food were happy. An interesting day. A good forecast tomorrow with 3 spaces currently on the 1400 sailing. Text to 07970 112774 if that for you.
