After yesterdays tough low tide session, I decided to pull that sailing for today. Happily Steve who was booked on was good to move to the new flood sailing at 1330, so just the two sailings today. First sailing, on super mirrored seas, new to BIF1 Gary and Andy, and returnees David and Ian.
Lots of bait, lots of birds, lots of bass, all preoccupied with tiny silver fishes. Hard to get a take, and invariably if a fish was hooked it was a small. Still good fun and great finger training for my new clients. We got to ten, and with an hour still to run, I tried a ploy quite successful at obsession time in previous years. Get as far away from them as possible. Leaving the bait several miles behind, bought just 2 more fish, with one of them a 57cm for David. Final tally, 12 bass landed, 3 killed for the table.

With 2nd sailing pulled for now, it was my pleasure to welcome aboard Steve and Kas, returning, and Andrew and his son Oscar, new to BIF1. With a friend Clint afloat out there already, I had a good idea of where there were fish. However, on the way to him, we discovered that actually there were fish everywhere. Once again it was a case of hunt the quality fish.

Action was a little more prolific than the morning, with 18 bass landed. And from that, thanks to applying a little reverse psychology. Attempting to get one of the 18 bazillion bass that were assassinating the huge shoals of whitebait, was proving to be a losing game. But working some craggy ground, and ignoring the whitebait shoals, did see five table fish despatched, with supporting mackerel. And with oily calm seas, warm sunshine, there really was no better place to be.
