First sailing, out with David, Andy and Liam, and Liam had bought along his friend and business associate David, to kill 2 birds with one stone. Mixing fishing with strategy meetings is highly recommended. Forewarned about the mass of sandeels down west, it didnt take long before the gulls pointed out where the fishes were, and they most certainly were. Mackerel in among the bass, but typical sandeel chasing shoals. Mostly sub 42cm fish, with just four out of thirty five landed were of BBQ size. However, good nunbers of mackerel meant everyone left with something for their hot coals.
Unlike the second sailing, where the wind had got a bit testier, and created really poor drifts across the tide. Finding the bass food was easy. It was everywhere. But the bass were less obliging. Unable to get offshore due to the increased wind, Paul, Lester, Mark and Joe were forced to fish in tight. The earlier sandeel shoals were no longer where they once were. We struggled to get just 6 bass to the boat, and only one from that was for the table.
